Hemalatha Anirudh

The reason I became a Nutrition Coach was because I was tired. I was tired of the same old boring diet charts, the salad diet, the fat-burning soup, apple cider vinegar and lemon water "tips".

Ever since I remember, I have been trying to lose weight. I always disliked my belly fat, flabby arms, and love handles. I thought doing crunches would give me abs or drinking lemon juice with honey in the morning was the way to "burn fat". And then, I was diagnosed with PCOS at the age of 17, and my chronic stress and sedentary lifestyle did not help much.

My running journey started in 2015 to shed some weight and soon became something I loved. I have run over 10 Half Marathons and many 10K in the last eight years.

Despite running long distances, my body fat % was always on the higher side, and my hormonal issues persisted. That is when I decided to seek help from a Nutrition Coach who put me on a diet of soups ("fat-burning" soups were part of the menu, too). That is when I realised that proper nutrition is about something other than starving or following a meal plan mindlessly. It needs a holistic approach. Being fit and healthy is not a destination but a journey.

I lost over 10kgs in 2021 and a fat loss of over 10%. My PCOS symptoms have gone, and I am working towards getting fitter and healthier. I did this by building long-term sustainable habits that set me up for long-lasting changes. This made me faster, too. I have won 2 podiums in races and credit my nutrition approach and running strategy.

I am a Precision Nutrition Certified Level 1 Coach, have a 200H RYT Yoga Certification and am now pursuing my Masters in Psychology (Health and Wellbeing) to help my clients better by working on the biopsychosocial aspects of health and their stress management, improve their relationship towards food and exercise, manage chronic illness and prevent metabolic disorders.
