Easy Sprouts Khichdi


  1. Moong sprouts, 1 cup

  2. Rice, 1.5 cup

  3. Green chillies, 5-6, chopped

  4. Onion, 2 medium, finely chopped

  5. Tomatoes, 2 medium, finely chopped

  6. Garam masala, 1 tsp

  7. Salt, as per taste


  1. Wash the rice and moong sprouts separately. Drain the water and set aside for 10 minutes.

  2. Add 1 tsp oil and 2 tsp ghee in a pressure cooker. Add cumin, allow it to splutter and then add green chillies.

  3. Add onion, cook them till they turn translucent. Add tomatoes and sauté until well cooked on high flame.

  4. Add 2-2.5 cups of water and bring it to a boil .

  5. Add rice and moong sprouts.

  6. Give it a stir. Add salt and garam masala.

  7. Cook for 1 whistle. Reduce the flame and allow it cook for another 3 minutes.

  8. Serve hot with a side of raita, pickle and a green salad.
