Rice, 1 cup
Dal, 0.5 cup
Onion, 2 medium, finely chopped
Garlic, 3 cloves, minced
Tomato, 1 medium, finely chopped
Green Peas, 0.25 cup
Carrot, 0.25 cup, finely chopped
Capsicum, 0.25 cup, finely chopped
Green chillies, 2-3, finely chopped
Cumin, 1 tsp
Ghee or oil, 1 tsp
Salt, for taste
Wash the rice and dal twice over. Drain and keep it aside.
In a pressure cooker, add ghee/oil. When hot, add cumin.
Add garlic, sauté it for a minute. Add green chillies and onions. Once onions turn translucent, add tomatoes.
Add the vegetables and mix well. Sauté for 1-2 minutes.
Stir the rice and dal into the cooker. Add 2-2.5 cups of water. Add salt.
Allow it cook for 1 whistle or 5 minutes.
Serve it hot with a side of pickle, raita and a green salad.
