Ingredients
Split Moong Dal, 0.5 cup
Rice, 1 cup
Onion, 2 medium, finely chopped
Garlic, 5-6 cloves, minced
Tomato, 1 medium, finely chopped
Ghee or Oil, 2 tsp
Peppercorns, crushed, 1 tsp
Coriander leaves, finely chopped, 1 tsp
Sugar, 2 tsp
Salt, to taste
Method
Wash the rice and dal twice over, drain and keep aside.
In a pressure cooked, add 2 tsp ghee or oil. Add crushed pepper.
Add finely chopped garlic, onion and tomato.
Sauté for 2-3 minutes. Add 2-2.5 cups of water and bring it to a boil.
Add salt and sugar. Stir well.
Add the washed dal and rice. Close the lid of the cooker.
Allow it to cook for 1 whistle (approx 5 min.).
Serve with a side of pickles, raita and a green salad.
